How can I recondition a leather jacket that got wet?
Help! I accidentally got my leather jacket into water, it got really wet and after I drying it's all rough and very stiff . I tried using some special oils to recondition it but it's not really working. Is it ruined for good or can it be restored?

- It sounds strange but try boot polish. Coat it in the polish & leave it over night then polish it up with a nice soft cloth
- By the sound of it you dried it with heat instead of letting it dry on it,s own. I don,t know what oil you are trying but any good quality M/cycle or Leisure store will be able to supply an oil which will feed the leather and restore it to it,s former self. Leather is a natural product that needs "feeding" with natural oils to restore it,s beauty .
- You can get an actual leather conditioner and use on it or you can lather it down in baby oil and then put vaseline over the baby oil.. The baby oil reconditions the leather and the vaseline hold the leathers oils in so that it help to protect it and keep its oil in rather than lossing them... Hang it up on a hanger and hang away from other clothes for a day or two and this should work.. That is what my husband does to recondition his leather jackets...
- Get natural coloured dubbing - the stuff you can put on your boots, and work it in well to the leather jacket. It feeds and nourishes the leather which should make it nice and supple again.
- Saddle soap is your best bet
