- Make sure they're dry, then use a stiff brush and baby powder. Do this before cleaning the leather, cuz the baby powder gets all over everything
- I used to use woolite on mine. I found a wonderful pair of custom made splint boots which were saddle leather on the outside and real sheepskin on the inside and 4 buckles at Burbank Saddle Exchange. I used these for over 20 years on ONE horse. When he passed away, I put them in a trunk with a lot of HIS tack that I didnt' give away. Strange, the sheepskin then separated from the leather, as if to say, "We belonged to one horse and NOT to be used by another!".
